Violet Orange are a six piece 80’s inspired pop outfit who are heavily inspired from bands such as The Go Go’s, The Bangles and No Doubt. Original members Danielle Foote (lead vocals/keys), Michaela Francis (guitar/vocals), Tina Ha (bass/vocals) and Jordan Abel (drums) met at North Metropolitan TAFE in 2018 studying the Diploma in music performance. In 2019, the band grew as they met their brass section Ned Holland (trombone) and Matthew Knight (trumpet).
Since Violet Orange , they have been steadily climbing through the Perth music scene, grasping at any opportunities that arise for them such as; participation at WAMFest 2019, recording for the ‘Demo’s from Peel’ project and playing for Brisbane band ‘Shagrock’ for their WA tour, all whilst they were recording and releasing their debut EP ‘Fool Me Twice’.
Violet Orange were set to release their newest single ‘Girls!’ in March 2020, which is primarily written about working through the hardships of being a woman, and also about being yourself and not hiding from who you are. Given the topic of the tune, the band was planning to accompany the release with a show in April, which was to be based around the idea of all girl fronted bands, as well as partnership with female entrepreneurs of art stalls and raising revenue for the UN Woman Foundation. Unfortunately, due to the current crisis, their plans were halted, but the band are hoping to combine their efforts with their next release later in the year.
